Bring pictures and ideas, and your wedding outfit will be tailored to match. The range includes (among other things):

  • Dinner jacket
  • From tailcoat and morning coat to frock coat
  • Waistcoat
  • Cravat (wedding tie)
  • Wedding shirt
  • Cufflinks
  • If you wish, we can also organise the best matching shoes and belt for you

With so many possible combinations and details for designing your suit, your wedding will be absolutely unique.

What matters most when you buy a wedding suit?

You don’t buy a wedding suit every day. In the following section we try to give you the most useful advice we can on choosing who makes your wedding suit.
For processes such as production time and guarantees, you will find more details here: “Why buy a made-to-measure suit from SuitArt?” and for the Fairtrade and quality principles behind them, read the “SuitArt Quality Manifesto”.

The key questions and answers we go through with you in our store:

  1. Does the suit fit? The wedding photo lasts (hopefully) for ever
    • Few photos compare with wedding photos. They are kept, and your children and grandchildren will very likely enjoy them. So the wedding suit has to fit perfectly.
→ There is no room for folds at the back of the neck or bulges on the chest that do not belong there.
→ An off-the-peg wedding suit does not fit properly in 80% of cases.
    • Do you want your wedding suit fashionable or classic?
Some classic features are flexible and always work. Other fashion trends feel embarrassing 15 years later, or to your parents (an obvious example: trousers that stop well above the ankle, and flares).
→ Classic or fashionable: our Italian tailors advise you on both.
  2. Does the groom’s outfit match the bride’s dress?
    • A white wedding dress is not white. It can be pure white, snow white, eggshell, pearl white, ivory, champagne, nude, pale pink and more.
→ Shirt, waistcoat, pocket square, tie, shoes, belt and cufflinks should only show shades that go with the bride.
→ Bring a piece of fabric from the wedding dress when you buy your wedding suit.
    • If the dress is grand, the suit should keep up. There are many ways to build this regal touch into a men’s suit without making it look loud.
  3. Problem: the sweating groom. Shirt buttoned up, waistcoat and suit jacket in high summer?
    • Quite apart from the excitement and the wedding night, a wedding can also get hot inside the groom’s clothes. Most people in our part of the world are not used to wearing several layers of clothing in summer.
→ SuitArt offers you what most suppliers don’t: you can have any suit and any waistcoat made in an unlined, 1/4-lined or 1/2-lined summer version.
→ Our lightest suit jacket weighs 140 grams. In it you can enjoy your wedding even at an air temperature of 32°C.
    • Take a second wedding shirt. Then you can freshen up after the ceremony and the apéro (drinks reception) and change your shirt for the evening party. (It is better anyway if the groom has two shirts, in case one of them gets dirty. A slip, a slightly wild wedding game or a drink spilled in the excitement is all it takes.
→ Tip: a second shirt opens up new options. Bring some life into your outfit. For the evening party, change the shirt colour and the pocket square, and the guests will think you have changed your whole outfit.

What a wedding outfit for the groom costs

The price of your wedding suit depends mainly on the fabric you choose.
We can make less expensive suits, but with special requests and the like, expect to pay CHF 1,800 for your wedding suit.
Apart from deliberate exceptions, the fabrics we use for wedding suits are natural, breathable and of high quality, for example cashmere super 140s from the most renowned Italian mills. So there is little point in advertising cheap fabrics here and then selling you something more expensive in the store.

A good suit that fits and in which you don’t sweat too much cannot really be bought anywhere for less than CHF 1,400.
At the very least, check the fabric: it should not be polyester or another synthetic.
